Tesla CEO Elon Musk posted on X that the subscription rate of Tesla FSD software among American car owners is much higher than 2%.
It was reported the day before that data from credit card data provider Yipit showed that only 2% of US Tesla owners who received a one-month free trial of FSD actually subscribed to the service after the trial period ended.
Gary Black, a well-known Tesla investor and managing partner of Future Fund, pointed out that the sample size of Yipit\’s survey is relatively small and may not represent the entire Tesla owner group.
He suggested that Tesla needs to figure out whether the low subscription rate is due to the perceived low added value of the FSD service or whether it is due to the $99/month subscription fee.
An X user questioned Yipit\’s findings. Musk responded: I don\’t comment on everything. Because sometimes I don\’t see it. And it\’s easy to comment on everything. Leak information.
The conversion rate is well above 2%.
